01Performance

What it does.

Machine safety is not a formality at the end of a project. Anyone who links machines into plants, rebuilds or modernises them must consider the conformity of the whole. Vecotrade supports you from the first design through the risk assessment to the declaration of conformity – for single machines as well as for linked plants.
01

Risk assessment

Systematically identifying and evaluating hazards and deriving measures – in line with harmonised standards.

02

Guarding

Designing and calculating guards – matched to the hazard and the operating concept.

03

Control system safety

Performance level to ISO 13849-1/-2, verified with SISTEMA.

04

Documentation

CE-compliant technical documentation and operating manuals.

05

Substantial modification

Checking conversions and modernisations for whether a new conformity assessment is required.

06

Purchasing advice

Checking specifications and manufacturer documents for CE conformity before purchase.

02Scope

Three building blocks for CE safety.

01 / 03

CE marking

  • CE assessment of plants, machines and equipment
  • Risk assessment and presumption of conformity under harmonised standards
  • Design and calculation of guards
  • Control system safety: performance level to ISO 13849-1/-2 with SISTEMA
  • CE-compliant documentation and operating manuals
02 / 03

CE consulting

  • CE conformity workshops
  • Practitioners' seminar on CE conformity and assessment procedures
  • Purchasing advice on CE conformity (specification and document checks)
  • Checking modifications for 'substantial modification'
  • Assessment during modernisation
03 / 03

Special surveying

  • Terrestrial 3D laser scanning of factories
  • Geometry of silos, tanks, buildings, conveyors, steelwork and piping – with a 3D model
  • Stopping-time and stopping-distance measurement on ESPE

03Process

From risk to CE mark.

  1. 01Risk assessmentDefining the limits of the machine, identifying and evaluating hazards.
  2. 02GuardingDesigning and calculating inherent and technical protective measures.
  3. 03Control system safetyDetermining the performance level to ISO 13849-1/-2 and verifying it with SISTEMA.
  4. 04DocumentationProducing CE-compliant technical files and operating manuals.
  5. 05Declaration of conformityFormally declaring that the requirements are met.
  6. CECE markingAffixing the CE mark – the machine may be placed on the market.

Qualification

Verifiably trained.

2020

VDI training for the entire technical team

Machinery Directive and risk assessment: the entire technical team takes part in a course specially adapted by the VDI.

2021

Certified Machinery Safety Expert

Employee Jens Heinz passes the examination and has since been a CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert.

Do you need a new CE assessment?

Five questions, two minutes: the CE quick check gives a first orientation on linking, conversion and modernisation.

04Context

Where in the process.

This service does not belong to a single step – it accompanies the entire process chain, in recycling and wood plants alike.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

01When do I need a new CE assessment?

Among other things, when machines are linked into an assembly or a plant is substantially modified. Whether a modification is substantial, we check case by case. Our CE quick check gives a first orientation – it is not legal advice.

02What is the performance level?

According to ISO 13849-1, the performance level (PL a to e) describes how reliably safety-related parts of a control system perform their safety function. We determine the required PL and verify the achieved level with SISTEMA.

03What qualifications does your team have?

In 2020 the entire technical team completed a training course on the Machinery Directive and risk assessment, specially adapted by the VDI. Since 2021 our colleague Jens Heinz has held the title CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert.

04What does the new EU Machinery Regulation change?

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC from 20 January 2027. We are happy to discuss what this means for your current and planned projects case by case.
